• In 1845 - Macon B. Allen, first African American admitted to the bar in Massachusetts ; the previous year he was admitted to the bar in Maine making him the first licensed African American attorney in the U.S.A.
  
• In 1920 - First game of the National Negro Baseball League is played in Indianapolis
